Los Angeles, CA (PRADULT) August 14, 2008 – The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has received a Proclamation from the City of West Hollywood honoring its RTA “Restricted To Adults” website label.

ASACP CEO Joan Irvine and Cybersocket President Morgan Sommer, who is a member of ASACP’s Advisory Council, accepted the proclamation on behalf of ASACP. The proclamation recognizes ASACP’s efforts to effectively help parents prevent their children from viewing age-inappropriate content with the RTA website label and states “the City of West Hollywood hereby commends the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection and extends its sincere appreciation of the organization’s advocacy on behalf of children.” The proclamation was presented by West Hollywood Councilman John Duran to Irvine and Sommer on Monday, July 21st, during a City Council meeting in front of an audience of about 200 people.

“We are honored to receive this award from the City of West Hollywood and thrilled to be able to accept it along with Morgan Sommer,” stated ASACP CEO Joan Irvine. “Morgan has been contributing his personal time as a member of the ASACP Advisory Council for the last four years; he also put forth the effort to obtain this recognition for ASACP and RTA. Morgan’s actions show how effective it is when the industry works together on such an important cause.”

RTA was developed out of a need for an easy to use and internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only. The RTA label is a unique string of “meta data” which can easily be inserted into the computer code of any website. Parental filtering software recognizes the tag and prevents children from viewing age-inappropriate material. The RTA label is free and universally available. ASACP launched RTA in November 2006 and it now has nearly five million page link-ins. Complete information about the RTA label and how to use it is available at www.RTAlabel.org.

Founded in 1996, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP battles child pornography through its CP reporting hotline, and by organizing the efforts of the online adult industry to combat the heinous crime of child sexual abuse. ASACP also works to help parents prevent children from viewing age-inappropriate material online. For more information, go to www.asacp.org.
