Venice Beach, CA (PRADULT) May 28, 2007 – Legendary producer Andrew Blake’s newest film, X hits the street May 24th. Brandishing the motto, “X is visually X-centric,� his latest title offers another potent blend of artistry and eroticism that pushes the boundaries of adult entertainment.

The new international release from Blake’s Studio A Entertainment is comprised of 20 short films, depicting, the box cover explains, “bold themes of bondage and release, public nudity and voyeuristic body worship.�

High-profile starlets like Aria Giovanni, Jelena Jensen, Melisande, Yana Ke-M and even director Blake himself, play starring roles in X.

By Blake’s own admission, X is a bit of a departure. The sheer number of models appearing in the film—more than 13—is a rather dramatic change, as was the approach to shooting each scene.

Said Blake, “Previously, I’d go out and shoot for a week or so with a core group of three or four leading ladies. Now when I find a girl that interests me I’ll shoot her immediately—instead of waiting for a concentrated shoot. It’s more personal and improvisational, like a cinematic ‘diary,’ opening the sexuality to a larger spectrum of possibilities. Instead of an individual model becoming the focus, the dominant nature of the director becomes the ’star’.â€?

X then is an exercise in spare, highly-personal filmmaking. Blake describes the scenes as “sophisticated ‘home movies’, produced with just myself as crew and the individual models.â€?

Adding to the unobtrusive, discreet style, scenes were shot with the Bolex Super 16mm film camera, which, Blake explains, “is about the same size as a medium format still camera.�

The marriage of these elements makes X an intoxicating amalgam, a deeply immersive and unique experience for viewers. Like most titles in the Studio A catalog, it is a perfect fit for adventurous couples, boasting a level of aesthetic beauty and visual depth that outshines the usual adult fare gracing retail and etail shelves today.

Blake is considered one of the few remaining visionaries in the biz, a man who got his start when productions were tethered to real budgets and shot exclusively on film, before video came along, during the industry’s “Golden Age.�

Over the years, Blake’s visionary films have garnered numerous accolades, including multiple AVN Award wins and induction for the director in the AVN Hall of Fame.

Perhaps most notable, one of Blake’s previous films, Night Trips, took home a silver medal at the Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival, giving him the distinction of being the only adult filmmaker ever awarded an international film festival prize.

While Blake wishes to do more shooting in Europe—specifically Italy and France—he is currently filming new scenes every week close to his studio in Venice Beach, working, he said, “with new models in high-fashion, fetish and retro situations.�
