Free Porn Foes Now Have CurbFreePorn

@ 10:39 pm.

Scottsdale, AZ (PRADULT) March 25, 2007 — If you are concerned about the excessive use of free porn to market adult websites, then you may want to visit and join the effort presented at the newly launched website, “www.CurbFreePorn.orgâ€?. Curb Free Porn, or CFP, was launched with the mission to simply raise awareness, and encourage ongoing discussion and dialogue about the damaging effects that free porn is having on the adult online industry.

The problem of free porn eroding the value of what all adult webmasters are trying to sell has been enthusiastically discussed on webmaster forums (*see example below). These discussions have fingers pointing at both sponsor programs and affiliate marketers as the culprits. Sponsor programs, who control the amount of free, promotional content that’s available to affiliates as tools, seem to go overboard in the generation of materials to both attract new affiliates and retain existing sales partners.

Affiliate marketers, in their zeal to attract a loyal audience and build traffic, and who seem to lack any other strategy, have somehow landed on the notion that being the biggest or the best at offering “free porn will trap surfers, and eventually convert them to buyers. Consequently, the word “free is thrown about with reckless abandon in virtually every corner of the adult side of the Net. It’s to the point, where many surfers are of a mindset that free porn is an inherent part of having internet access, and is a commodity offered virtually without limits, in such high quality and diversity, that there’s no reason to purchase it.

As a means of changing the status quo, the Curb Free Porn site solicits voluntary participation in bringing the free porn problem the recognition it merits. Key to keeping this issue in front of the industry is the use of banner “buttons and emblems by those who post at the industry’s many forums and message boards.

As well as by those who maintain sites which promote services and goods to the adult online community.

The site embraces the position that finding a solution or solutions to the problems created by free porn will never come about if the issue is not first identified, and secondly, if it doesn’t gain top-of-the-mind awareness among those who continue to feed and perpetuate the problem. In addition to providing their support by displaying the buttons, visitors to the site are encouraged to contribute their ideas, viewpoints and suggestions which will be published on various pages of the site.

Because the site and the effort it’s backing are voluntary, there are no officers, boards or any official spokesperson at this point. It’s an effort which belongs to the industry. And, it’s hoped that from it will spring discussions and ideas which will ultimately help ensure the professionalism and welfare of the industry.
