ASACP Goes Mobile at MAC Congress

@ 10:08 pm. Edit This

Los Angeles, CA (PRADULT) October 3, 2006 – The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) will be represented at the second Mobile Adult Content Congress, as ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine takes part in two different panels examining issues faced by webmasters who are looking to “mobilize.

The MAC Congress will take place from October 10-12 at the Siena Hotel Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada. MACC is the only event in the world exclusively dedicated to the responsible delivery of mature content to mobile devices. The first MACC conference was held in January. Over 125 top level executives from around the world attended, and the event was covered extensively by both adult industry and mainstream media.

ASACP’s Joan Irvine will participate in the Legal and Regulatory Discussion, which will examine new 2257 regulations, state content filtering laws, and possible application of FCC indecency rules to mobile content. Later that day, Joan will also appear on an in-depth, audience participation Superpanel where topics will include age verification and child protection.

“MAC is making issues like access control and responsible business practices a top focus at this event, said Irvine. “ASACP is already launching a site-labeling initiative to improve parents’ ability to protect their kids from age-inappropriate content, and we expect in the future to expand out self-regulatory model to help mobile companies protect kids as well.

In keeping with the theme of industry responsibility, MAC is also extending a 50% registration discount to ASACP members. Companies that participate in ASACP’s Approved Member program comply with the ASACP Code of Ethics – which ensures that member sites neither contain nor condone child pornography, and that members work to help prevent children from unknowingly viewing adult content.

Founded in 1996, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP battles child pornography through its CP reporting hotline, and by organizing the efforts of the online adult industry to combat the heinous crime of child sexual abuse.
